Greetings everyone! As you may have heard, I’m home! I made it safely back to Virginia mid-December just before Christmas. Riding down my driveway, seeing my house all done up in lights, with four months, 4,000 + miles, and eleven states behind me made for the ultimate Hallmark moment and a great finish to an incredible trip.
I want to thank everyone for their interest and support and for all those who helped me along the way. As with every journey, none of it would have been possible without the charity and assistance of good friends and strangers, alike. A big thank you to Parker and Kathy for providing the cooking supplies of my daily meals and also for the tent I sheltered in nightly. Endless gratitude goes out to the good doctor Rich for the generous use of his BOB trailer, a steady companion to the last mile.
A lot of great things happened on the road since I last posted. I’ve been spending the intervening months going through my trip journal, making it all palatable for public consumption. For the rest of the month, I want to share the remaining posts with you, faithful reader, taking you from Capitol Reef, where we last left off, right up to my front stoop.
What follows are some of the best miles of the trip. I hope you enjoy the ride…
Also, if you want a little teaser of things to come, here is a link to a blog post I wrote about the bike tour for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps: Northwest. Thanks again and happy reading.
